“Baby It’s Cold Outside” – Idina Menzel feat. Michael Bublé
You don’t need to be Christian to release a holiday album, just ask Idina Menzel! The Tony-winning Broadway diva was raised Jewish, but in 2014, she didn’t let that stop her from releasing a holiday album of her own, which didn’t feature a single Hanukkah song, but that’s fine! Christmas should be embraced by people of all backgrounds, and nowadays most aspects of the holiday have been so commercialized that the religious aspect doesn’t even factor in for a lot of people.
Holiday Wishes was released in 2014, and like most holiday albums, featured covers of past hits like “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?”, and “Holly Jolly Christmas”. She also had a duet with none other than Mr. Christmas, Michael Bublé on the track “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” Menzel’s unique voice and Bublé’s bluesy crooner sound blend perfectly as they sing through some romantic rapport.
The best thing about this song, though, has to be the music video — and the pair don’t even appear in it (except for a brief moment in a mirror)! In the video, two kids play a mini version of Idina and Michael, as they dance through a hotel lobby dressed to the nines. It’s adorable and a refreshing take on the flirty nature of the song.
