What will “We Can Find Him” bring to How to Get Away with Murder? The synopsis is lengthy, but it doesn’t seem surprising.

How to Get Away with Murder‘s midseason finale is quickly approaching, and that means that time is running out to set up new mysteries, solve old ones, and otherwise make sure that fans can’t wait until the return early next year.

What that means is that “We Can Find Him” has a lot of heavy lifting to do.

Take it away with the synopsis, ABC:

"Annalise receives a call from Governor Birkhead, and she’s forced to weigh an interesting offer, while Bonnie reunites with her sister looking for answers from what happened years ago. Connor and Oliver try to keep their cool while their mothers are in town helping with wedding plans, and Tegan surprisingly enlists Laurel’s help on a big case at the firm."

To date myself slightly, I recognized the actress playing Gov. Birkhead as none other than “that doctor from ER who used a crutch,” who’s named Dr. Kerry Weaver and was brought to life by Laura Innes. If memory serves, Innes had some pretty good acting chops, and though medical shows and law dramas don’t always have a ton in common, they both require a bit of gravitas from their actors even in the most ridiculous of situations. This could end up being a mildly interesting situation.

So far, the season has set up Gov. Birkhead as an antagonist to Annalise’s ongoing class-action fallout, but the fact that she now wants to talk suggests that they might make better allies than antagonists. It is good PR, after all, to show a commitment to justice, and it might be an election year for Birkhead.

Beyond that, though, Tegan picking Laurel for help doesn’t seem like a big surprise; Laurel’s fairly adept, and she’s not Michaela. That latter is probably the more important for Tegan right now, honestly. Hopefully, Bonnie visiting Julie will help bring the entire kidnapping storyline to a close.

Finally, Connor and Oliver wedding storylines are always welcome, because at least we’ll learn something new in the process. It might seem simple, but it’s clear that this wedding is important to the entire season as a whole. It makes sense to spend a lot of time on it and the preparation as well as do some character work with it.
