All Harry Potter wanted out of life was to have a family
Breaking down the Harry Potter series into the simplest terms, it is easy to see that all Harry wanted was a family and Hogwarts finally gave it to him.
Look, Harry Potter is not a complex character. When you break him down, he just wanted to get through school and life with as little drama as possible. Because of all the drama in his life, he became the sassy boy we grew to love.
All that being said, if you look at what Harry wanted throughout the entire series, it is sad because he didn’t want fame or fortune. He didn’t even really want to do magic. All Harry Potter wanted was to finally have a family. His aunt and uncle treated him like their servant, he had no friends, and he didn’t know what love could feel like.
Going to Hogwarts, he had his taste of a lot of things but the one thing that really seemed to strike him was the love. From Ron, Hermione, the Weasleys, Sirius, Remus, and even Dumbledore. They all loved him and wanted him to succeed not because he needed to defeat Voldemort but because they cared about Harry.
Looking into the Mirror of Erised, Harry didn’t see him being the Quidditch captain or winning anything. He saw his parents. All he wanted was to have that love in his life that he never really remembered and it is so sad. But to know that he got that, eventually, with his own children is enough for now.
At the end of the day, the Harry Potter series is about love and when Harry finally has his family in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, it is a beautiful sight to see.
