Halloween night for Harry Potter: The death of Lily and James Potter

The death of Lily and James Potter started the series of bad luck of Harry Potter but what exactly does that night mean for Harry? Especially with Cursed Child.

Harry Potter has an interesting relationship with Halloween. Not only is it the night that he and Ron really became friends with Hermione but it is also the night that started his entire battle with Voldemort.

When Harry Potter’s parents were preparing for bed on October 31 or 1981, they were suddenly fighting for their lives against Voldemort. Because of a prophecy, Voldemort believed that either Harry or Neville would be his demise (not realizing that by killing the Potters, he was confirming said prophecy).

After hearing this, he went after the child and thus the beginning of the series began. But, for those who have seen or read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, we know the night has a deeper meaning for Harry as he gets older. What’s sad about the entire situation, especially with Cursed Child, is that there was nothing that Harry could have done.

He had to just sit and watch as his parents lost their lives and it brings up a good question: How does Harry feel about Halloween? Does he resent the day, knowing what it meant for his family? Or did he find some way to enjoy it? There are so many things that Harry Potter didn’t get to experience growing up, it’d be nice to know that there is one thing he holds claim over as an adult.

Remember, this Halloween, that it was the night that changed everything for Harry. He lost his parents, his freedom, and began a journey with Voldemort that no one could have seen.
