Archenemies – Marissa Meyer
Archenemies, the sequel to Marissa Meyer’s popular release, Renegades, comes out in early November. Set in a world where people have superpowers, the story follows a girl named Nova. She wants vengeance against a group of so-called heroes, The Renegades, for overthrowing the villains of their society — Nova’s people. But as Nova seeks out revenge, she meets one of the Renegades who believes in justice for her kind, and it changes her perspective.
Archenemies picks up after Nova and Adrian defeat the Detonator, a victory they soon find out is short-lived. The war between the Anarchists and the Renegades only intensifies, with both sides boasting weapons and strategies that will destroy the other. The problem is, they might also destroy Gatlon City in the process.
The covers for both novels embrace the superhero aspects of the story well. The art style resembles that of a comic book, the color scheme speaks to that type of story, and the immense amount of detail gives the cover of Archenemies a touch that a lot of books don’t have. There’s so much to look at on this cover that readers are likely to see something new each time they pick it up.
