Nine Perfect Strangers – Liane Moriarty
The cover for Liane Moriarty’s latest book, Nine Perfect Strangers, doesn’t reveal much about the story. But going into Moriarty’s books without much knowledge yields pretty good results, and the cover of Nine Perfect Strangers is appealing regardless. I mean, just look at those colors.
The story follows nine people staying at a remote health resort for 10 days, all of them there for various reasons that amount to the same thing: bettering themselves and their health, whether mentally or physically. One of the guests, Frances Welty, becomes fascinated by the owner of Tranquillum House. She begins to question whether or not he truly has the answers she’s seeking, and eventually the other guests do the same.
And so Moriarty delves into the human psyche through these guests, and through the owner of the resort himself. She explores whether people should put their hopes in someone else’s hands, just as Frances and the others decide to do. In this way, Nine Perfect Strangers is a study of humanity — but it should also be full of the twists readers have come to expect from Moriarty’s work.
