Lucius Malfoy: Abusive or a misunderstood many trying to figure life out?

At this point, we shouldn’t have to question how we feel about Lucius Malfoy but since people still do, we can reflect on why he isn’t a great guy.

Mugglenet published a piece today that has us questioning whether or not we understand Lucius Malfoy as much as we think we do. Here’s the thing: He is abusive. The way that Draco views the world is because of how Lucius spoke to him as a child.

Throughout the series, we see him talk down to not only his own son but Harry Potter as well. He isn’t a good man. The only reason he renounces Voldemort is because, in the end, he knows that Lord Voldemort isn’t going to win. Lucius is the kind of many who looks out for himself.

When you see how he treats his wife and son, there shouldn’t be a discussion about it. He’s not great. Sure, we’ve only seen him as someone who was struggling against the hold of Voldemort but that doesn’t change the fact that he is a Death Eater who uses his son as a pawn in this game.

Malfoy could easily have redeemed himself, fought against Voldemort but he doesn’t. This is who he is, he fights with those who he thinks are going to win and he does whatever is the best for him, not his family and certainly not the wizarding world.

So at the end of the day, Lucius Malfoy is an abusive man who tormented his son for years and we can’t really get behind his views.
