“Bad Girls” – Bob’s Burgers

The show: Bob’s Burgers (both the original and the Bob’s Buskers iteration)

The FOX series, Bob’s Burgers, is known for its clever take on common sitcom and animated tropes. It often works in musical numbers to punctuate its more emotional and comical moments (seriously, there are Thanksgiving songs … yes, plural, including “Kill the Turkey“). The show’s music has become such an important part of the ethos of the show, that it’s spawned a companion series, Bob’s Buskers.

This fun companion features real-life musicians taking on songs from the series as their animated counterparts set up stage in front of the Belcher family storefront.

Best of the best: “Bad Girls” (taken from “Bad Tina,” season 2)

“Bad Girls” has St. Vincent taking on the original punk ditty. It’s fuzzier and a little more melancholy. It also features a pretty boss air-mop solo by Tina herself. It’s a bit of a waste, however, that the animated St. Vincent didn’t take on Tina’s infamous aesthetic, but she makes up for it in soul.

Best lyric(s):

“Bad girls make mean announcements at lunch
And bad girls think that you’re being a boob punch
I don’t wanna be this bad
I don’t wanna be this bad”
