Darth Vader (Star Wars)

You can’t talk villains and not bring up Darth Vader. Darth Vader, as everyone knows, is from the Star Wars franchise, first appearing in Star Wars in 1977.

Darth Vader was a Jedi who was lured to the dark side of the Force and ended up a powerful Sith Lord. Vader, who is revealed to be Anakin Skywalker, was a kind person before the death of his mother and wife. Then his demeanor starts to change. When he goes to the dark side, he became cold and ruthless. His loyalties remain with his master Palpatine, whom he secretly plans to overthrow.

Every good villain has to have a great set of powers, and Darth Vader has plenty. He has the power of the Force, and since he was (and still is, in some way) the Chosen One, his connection to the Force is stronger than most, even when he’s a cyborg. It gives him the power of telekinesis, the Force choke (where he just has to look at the target and mimic choking with his hand), sifting through the thoughts of people, and even ridiculous piloting skills. And that’s not even half the list!

Vader is revealed to be the father of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, which is crucial to his breaking away from the dark side. He sacrifices himself to take Palpatine down and save Luke from being tortured, reminiscent of the good person he once was. Even though we love a villain who is shamelessly evil, sometimes it’s nice to see them be redeemed as good people.
