20 best movie villains of all time
Loki (Thor)
With all the DC villains, we needed to have at least one Marvel baddie, right? Loki first appeared in the 2011 film Thor, and he’s since garnered a huge fan following.
Loki is the son of King Laufey, but he was abandoned and left to die shortly after his birth. He was found by King Odin of Asgard and raised alongside his biological son, Thor. He was always bitter about the fact that Thor was going to be crowned king one day, so Loki sabotages the coronation, which leads to Thor’s banishment to Earth.
Loki is the God of Mischief, so you already know that means he makes for a great villain. He craves power and tries to take over Asgard and Earth. He is highly intelligent and sometimes you can even see glimmers of good shining through. But he’s an expert liar and manipulator, knowing exactly how to get people to give him what he wants.
As far as his powers go, Loki can manipulate ice, has superhuman strength, and can create visual illusions. He’s also skilled in combat and weapons, and he’s highly intelligent, because most villains are. Loki fits the bill of your typical villain. He’s just a misunderstood person who wants to be loved, but instead chooses anger to seek revenge on those who wronged him.
Throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we get to see a positive side of Loki too, so it’s nice to know he’s not all bad… though we do love it when he’s being evil and sassy.
