20 best movie villains of all time
Catwoman (Batman Returns)
This is the last Batman villainess on the list, but we think it goes without saying that this woman is one of the most popular DC villains, or at least some versions of her are.
Catwoman, whose real name is Selina Kyle, is a cat burglar and supervillain from Gotham City. Her and Batman have a complex relationship, and are sometimes portrayed as star-crossed love interests. In some stories, Catwoman is shown more as an antihero than a villain, but no matter how you look at it, this burglar is one of the best villains out there. She made her debut in the comic book series way back in 1940, and has since been portrayed in many other Batman stories, from the animated series to the 1960s TV show, to films like Batman Returns, Catwoman (yikes), and The Dark Knight Rises.
Arguably the most well-received Catwoman was Michelle Pfeiffer in the 1992 film Batman Returns. She donned a skin-tight catsuit, complete with cat ears, stilettos, and a whip. She turns to a life of crime after she is almost killed by her boss, going from being a cat lady to being a cat, period.
Catwoman is basically sick of being stepped all over and decides to fight back, and that’s a trait we should all try to keep in mind. Maybe not to the extent of becoming a supervillain burglar, but you know, it’s something to consider. She can do flips and highkicks in one of the tightest costumes ever, and she can kick some serious hero butt, all while in heels. Batman could never.
