Whether it is the best moments in the film, or its endearing storyline, there are plenty of reasons why we are still watching The Nightmare Before Christmas 25 years later.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is perhaps one of the more underrated Disney movies out there, even as it has become a cult classic that leaves many of us extolling the virtues of this film. And while it is often considered a bizarre mix of animated excellence and musical genius with a storyline that is a cross between Halloween horror and Christmas magic, there is something about the movie that makes us want to watch it every year.

While we may consider The Nightmare Before Christmas a Halloween classic (it is), there is something about the story that translates across holidays. There is a sense of wonder with this movie, even with its complicated story and characters. Perhaps what makes it so enduring is the fact that is a Gothic masterpiece from Tim Burton, who knows how to make Gothic fabulous and weird in the best ways possible.

And we have to give the film a lot of credit for being a true musical in the sense of a Broadway production. Other Disney movies may have music, but even without the music, the story can be told. But with The Nightmare Before Christmas, losing the music destroys the story, because there is no story if you take the musical numbers out.

With all of these amazing qualities, it makes sense that even 25 years later, we still want to watch as Jack Skellington tries to kidnap Santa Clause in order to find the magic of the holiday. And we stick around to watch Jack as he ends up having to save both Santa and Sally, while also working to fix the mistakes he has made, and the chaos he has caused.

No matter why we love The Nightmare Before Christmas, these 15 reasons are why we continue to watch the movie all these years later.
