Empire season 5 episode 3 live stream: Watch online

All of the Lyons are fighting for their mighty name whether it’s in the music business or on the prison yard in the latest episode of Empire.

Lucious’ declaration that “It’s time for us to build an entirely new Empire,” opens the preview for Empire season 5 episode 3, “Pride.” According to a press release from SpoilerTV:

"Cookie and Lucious push to get back in the music game, but they’ll need the whole family and some old allies to make serious sacrifices in order to do so. Meanwhile, Andre finds a risky way to make a name for himself among his fellow inmates…"

The preview for Empire season 5 episode 3, “Pride,” shows Cookie and Lucious starting to build a whole new music empire from scratch, with Jamal and Hakeem as their first two artists. Cookie mentions that this new venture has to work because if not, there won’t be any starting over.

Unfortunately, the family hits a speed bump after they learn that since Jamal and Hakeem are both still under contract at Empire, all of the music they make belongs to Lucious and Cookie’s latest enemy, new Empire CEO Jeff Kingsley.

Lucious is unfazed by Kingsley’s bro-ey startup arrogance and makes sure the new head of Empire knows who he’s messing with. “Stronger, hungrier, more capable men have come for me… every one of them has failed,” Lucious warns.

Notably, the preview also foreshadows the return of Cookie’s sisters, Carol and Candace (C³ is back, y’all) and hints at the increased urgency the family feels about preserving and protecting their legacy. We’ve already seen that Lucious and Cookie were willing to go for broke (literally) to get Empire back.

If Cookie and Lucious approach starting a new label with the same overzealousness from before, someone is bound to get hurt, burnt out or worse, which might explain whoever is in the casket. We’ll just have to find out what happens in the next few episodes.
