The Good Place: Is The Judge on to Michael and Janet?
Michael took a lot of risks in the season three premiere of The Good Place. There’s a hinting suspicion that the Judge might be onto his schemes…
This week’s episode of The Good Place brought our four humans together in Australia, with a lot of interfering by Michael. He kept bribing the Doorman with decaf antimatter, the same forms, and sealing the deal with a travel mug with a frog on it.
It’s all very The Good Place. And it wouldn’t be the premiere if it didn’t have a fun cliffhanger to end the episode.
In this week’s case, it’s the addition of a fifth member to Chidi’s thesis study: Trevor. Yes, Trevor from The Bad Place.
But how the heck did he make it to Earth?! It’s a rigorous process with safeguards in place.
Here’s our theory: Judge Gen knows Michael’s interfering, thanks to Shawn’s tap into her system. He alerted her the moment he saw how many times Michael ran back to Earth to interfere.
When Michael and the Judge started this whole thing, she reserved the right to call it off at any point in time. But she also did this because she’s bored and wants something fun. She saw how cagey and suspicious Michael and Janet were. So when Shawn came to her, it probably didn’t surprise her.
And because she’s so bored and binge-watching NCIS, rather than calling the bet off, she’s letting Shawn send one of his own minions to interfere as well.
There may as well be equal ground, right? And The Good Place has to have some issues for Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason. Otherwise it wouldn’t be a fight for their souls.
Trevor’s appearance doesn’t bode well for anyone. Team Cockroach won’t remember him; they’ll bring him into their fold.
The question remains: Will they be able to have him switch sides like Michael? Or will they be stuck falling into his Bad Place traps?
