Robert De Niro and Frances Conroy in talks for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie

It seems as if everyone wants to be in this Joker movie. Now in talks to play the pawns to the Joker, Robert De Niro and Frances Conroy may join the cast.

Joaquin Phoenix has been creating his Joker movie for quite some time now. And the cast keeps getting stranger and stranger. Most recently, Robert De Niro began talks to play a talk show host who is instrumental in the origin of the Joker as we know him.

Odder than that? Frances Conroy is apparently gunning for the role of the evil mastermind’s mother. Does anyone really know what this movie is going to be or is it just a lot of random vignettes, showing us who eventually became Batman’s greatest foe?

The bigger question is: Why? Is this movie necessary? Do we need more content about the Joker in our lives? Especially content that we are so clueless on that no one knows what’s going on with this casting?

It is interesting to note that De Niro playing a talk show host who helps to create the villain we see is a nice twist. His mother would obviously be instrumental but a talk show host? What exactly was he before he wore the make-up and had the scars? Is this Joker more a Nicholson, a Ledger, or a Leto?

There are still a lot of things up in the air about this movie and we might not have answers until we actually see it in theaters. Still though, does anyone have any idea what Joaquin Phoenix is planning on doing with this film or is everyone winging it?
