“We Will Rock You” is the soundtrack of the second look at Bohemian Rhapsody, but this trailer does more than just playing music.
Although the first trailer for Bohemian Rhapsody looked more at the making of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” this one actually lets someone other than Mercury show their creative side: it’s Brian May, and he’s talking about how to get fans more involved in the music of Queen.
The solution? Stomp, stomp, clap. Stomp, stomp, clap. You know what song this is. And, naturally, the trailer makes sure to show fans providing the rhythm.
Of course, there’s also more recording footage as the band gets “experimental.” From singing “Galileo!” in falsetto over and over again to using cardboard tubes to swinging things around, Queen works to make the music as interesting as it can be. Fortunately, it’s tough to turn a movie about this band in particular into a dry film that only focuses on how its members made music. There’s drama to be had here, too, of course.
“Roger, there’s only room in this band for one hysterical queen,” Rami Malek’s Mercury says at one point. To be fair, we can’t be too mad. Singing in falsetto is tough on the voice.
But beyond that, there are a lot of subtle things for sharp-eyed fans. At one point, Roger Taylor actually asks “Ready, Freddie?” It’s a lyric that appears in “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” Additionally, there’s a brief shot of Mercury feeding his cats. One of the songs released in 1991, the same year of his death, was “Delilah,” which is not about a girl… but instead one of his cats. (You can even see some of his other cats in the trailer, including Romeo.)
