What would recasting Johnny Depp in the Fantastic Beast series entail?

Fans are seemingly torn on what to do about Johnny Depp. The actor has been accused multiple times of assault and what would recasting actually entail?

Johnny Depp is a constant struggle for some fans of the Harry Potter series. With the new allegations against him, the discussion about recasting him as surfaced once again. The thing about Harry Potter and his life is that he was abused as a child.

So to have someone who has been accused of abuse (whether alleged or proven) isn’t a great look for the series. Many have brought up this concern on Twitter and even pointed out how his continually involvement in the Fantastic Beasts series is only hurting the franchise.

The more we talk about it, however, the less likely it seems that Warner Brothers will do anything about it. It would be very simple to delay the release and give us the Collin Farrell/Jude Law love story we all wanted. They did it when Kevin Spacey had allegations against him so why not do it in this case?

The point is that even if he is innocent, the continual charges are not helping fans get excited about the movie. If anything, many are put off because Depp is part of it. Without him, fans would, seemingly, be a lot more into the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise.

Even if he doesn’t get recast, the knowledge that he continues to be the series will weigh heavily on those who didn’t like his involvement in the first place. We will have to wait and see what Warner Brothers decides to do about the situation.
