When you think about Star Wars, Harry Potter isn’t probably the first thought in your head. But Harry and Han Solo are a lot more alike than you’d think.
Han Solo is nothing like Harry Potter. Or at least he isn’t in the ‘magical’ sense. He doesn’t have any powers and he just kind of exists in the Star Wars universe. The story doesn’t revolve around him and he isn’t the root of everything like Harry is.
So how is he similar to the boy who lived? Well, they’re both two men who don’t know what it is like to have a family. So when it comes to their sons and how they function in society, both are a bit lost.
Look at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and compare it to the relationship between Han Solo and Ben Solo in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Both men think they understand what they’re supposed to do but it is obvious that they don’t know what it is like to be a father since they didn’t have one.
They can’t figure out their sons and they’re trying their best to be the greatest dads that they can be without any kind of reference point. While it is a little sad, it just shows us, as the audience, that we love these tropes. These boys who just want to do what is right for the world, even if they aren’t exactly sure how they are supposed to do it.

You can see Harry in his latest adventure on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Han’s story is currently being told in theaters everywhere in Solo: A Star Wars Story. These two boys are a mess but we love them anyway.
