Dancing with the Stars: Athletes semifinals power rankings

We finally have someone new atop this week’s Dancing with the Stars: Athletes power rankings, and it’s probably exactly whom you expect it to be.

The return of David Ross to be a guest judge heralded the start of the semifinals of Dancing with the Stars: Athletes — but he wasn’t the only returning competitor. Meryl Davis, Nastia Liukin and Von Miller also acted as mentors.

Ross sat in the usual guest spot — between Carrie Ann Inaba and Len Goodman, with Bruno Tonioli rounding off the judges’ table.

First up came the individual routines. We’ve added the Ballroom Battle points to scores where appropriate.

The scoreboard, in order of appearance:

• Mirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten (quickstep): 35 (9, 9, 8, 9) — eliminated
• Jennie Finch Daigle and Keo Motsepe (Viennese waltz): 29 (7, 8, 7, 7) — eliminated
• Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson (foxtrot): 33 (8, 9, 7, 9) — eliminated
• Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber (rumba): 33 (8, 9, 8, 8) + 2 bonus points = 35
• Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson (contemporary): 39 (10, 10, 9,10) + 2 bonus points = 41
• Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess (contemporary): 36 (9, 9, 9, 9) + 2 bonus points = 38

In the Ballroom Battle round, all four judges voted on who they thought had won. Two bonus points were awarded for a victory, reflected in the above scoreboard.

Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber vs. Jennie Finch Daigle and Keo Motsepe (cha cha, mentor: Nastia Liukin): 3-1, Tonya & Sasha

• Mirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten vs. Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson (jive, mentor: Meryl Davis): 3-2, Adam & Jenna, tie broken by America’s vote
• Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess vs. Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson (salsa, mentor: Von Miller): 3-1, Josh and Sharna.
