John Boyega is growing out his hair for Star Wars Episode IX

Hair has always played an important role in the Star Wars franchise and now, that applies to John Boyega’s character Finn!

When John Boyega brought Finn to life, audiences found him to be endearing. He has continued to prove himself both as an actor, humanitarian, and a character in the world of Star Wars. In an interview for a mobile app that he’s helping launch, John talked about physical changes he must go through to become Finn and, in doing so, may have spoiled a bit of what is to come for our favorite Storm Trooper turned member of the resistance.

John stated that he was growing his hair out for Finn, which is an innocent enough statement. Typically, the former Storm Trooper’s hair was very crew cut, very much the opposite of both Rey and Poe Dameron’s looks.

Now though, with the resistance all but banished to hide out away from the First Order, it seems that hair might not be that big of a priority. Which is fair.

Something that never really made sense about Star Wars is that they’re in intense battles with little to no resources yet everyone has their hair done. In the more recent Star Wars films, everything seems a bit grittier and makes a bit more sense in terms of fashion and hairstyles.

So if we can claim this physical change as any kind of spoiler, it is just that some time has passed since the end of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and Episode IX. Unlike the continuation from Force Awakens, clearly we’re going to have some time between the ‘end’ of the resistance and whatever Episode IX has in store for us!
