Jamie Parker is a Gryffindor and are we surprised?

Jamie Parker says that he is a Gryffindor and honestly, what else would he be? He plays Harry Potter after all.

We all know what house we belong to in Harry Potter and so does Jamie Parker! The star of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Jamie answered the age old question in an interview. But really, why bother asking him?

To be quite fair, I think anyone playing Harry Potter himself has to be a Gryffindor. Sure, he could also be a Slytherin but that was the Voldemort part of Harry, leaving only the Gryffindor aspects remaining. So if Jamie Parker wasn’t Gryffindor, it would seem a little weird.

Look, I know he’s an actor and can play the part but at the end of the day, this is still a series that we love and appreciate because of what it means to us as fans. There isn’t a Harry Potter fan out there that doesn’t know what house they belong to. It is part of the journey we go on.

So for Jamie to understand that, in a way, makes him a wonderful Harry. Not only is he incredible in the part, but he recognizes the importance of this series and, more importantly, the connection fans have to it. I think a lot of the problem with the new wave of Potter stars is that they don’t necessarily understand the love we have. Take the cast of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for instance. Those who were fans and are now cast members get it.

Next: What would you do…for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child tickets?

The cast members who were not fans don’t. It isn’t a knock on them, they just weren’t a part of it. So to see Jamie embracing it in this way is wonderful and he makes for a great Harry Potter.
