Kendrick Lamar recently appeared as a guest on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show and during the appearance, he dished on working with Taylor Swift.

As fans will recall, Lamar was a featured artist on Swift’s 2015 single, “Bad Blood,” a track on her album 1989.

“We both was in LA, so I came to her studio session. She had the music up and I started writing and jumped in the booth and we laid it down,” he said, according to a report by NME on December 12.

Lamar and Swift’s track was a major hit and continues to get play two years after its initial release. As many will recall, the track was a bit controversial when it was first released because many believed Swift wrote the song as an attack on her longtime nemesis Katy Perry. While nothing was ever confirmed, the song was believed to be inspired by their ongoing feud.

Although Swift was rumored to have used Perry as her inspiration for the song, Lamar made it clear to Stern that he used his own inspiration to create his part in the song. As he explained to the longtime radio host, he didn’t want to get too caught up with Swift’s own thought process and creation of the song and instead chose to see where his own inspiration took him.

Continuing on about his experience with Swift, Lamar said that they had a good vibe with one another in the studio and when it came to actually recording the show, they locked into their chemistry and felt great about how the track turned out.
