Coco will make you cry thanks to a very specific plot point

Coco is a brilliant movie with incredible artistry. But make sure to bring the tissue box because you won’t leave with dry eyes.

Most Pixar movies make us cry, but Coco is something else entirely. If you think you know you’re going to get a bit emotional during it, think again. Focusing on the Day of the Dead and the story of Miguel, Coco shows us the world of the dead through the eyes of a living boy.

Miguel wants to play music but his family is against it since his great-great grandfather left to pursue his own musical career. When Miguel believes he figured out who his great-great grandfather was, he goes to steal the guitar of De La Cruz and it takes him into the world of the dead.

The thing about this movie isn’t that the story itself makes us cry. It’s a pretty run of the mill Pixar movie. What gets you, though, is the heartbreaking relationship between Coco and her father. It has beautiful music, a wonderful story and honestly, I’ve never openly cried that much in a movie before.

To many, Pixar means something special to them. Especially their favorite Pixar movie. But Coco may be changing the game. It is a new kind of story that is still giving us the Pixar feel we know and love so well. And did we mention how beautiful the movie is to watch? The animation is to die for. But it is Pixar, so is anyone surprised?

If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly suggest going out and seeing Coco while you can. It is unique, fun, heartwrenching and everything we love about a Pixar movie and more. You just might want to bring an entire box of tissues with you because you’re definitely going to need it.
