The portkey can take you wherever you want to go and the Harry Potter series used it to their advantage. So if you had one, where would you go?
A portkey transported Harry and his friends to the World Cup. There was also one that brought Harry and Cedric to Cedric’s death and the rebirth of Lord Voldemort. But the idea of a portkey is still cool nonetheless. So if you had the option to use one, where would you end up going?
For me, I’d use the portkey to go home and see my family more often than I do now. You could easily go place to place without really having to plan being gone for extended periods of time. It’s not like a plane right where you have to plan the hours of travel into your trip.
Granted, there are lots of ways to travel like that when it comes to our fantasy worlds. From teleporting to even apparating, a portkey just is something a bit more substantial. You’re holding onto something to take you there.
Most other magical forms of traveling are completely up in the air (which the portkey is as well) but it just seems like a way to travel that feels safer than some of the others. Which is funny since they only use it occasionally. Traveling to Hogwarts that way could have saved them a lot of time.
It’d just be a fun way to travel and you’d get to go wherever you wanted to go significantly faster.
