Drama abounds in Murder on the Orient Express

Murder on the Orient Express might be too dramatic for people. But honestly, that is what makes it a perfect fall film for some.

Do you like drama? Then you’ll love Murder on the Orient Express. No, really, if you’ve ever watched Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet, then you’ll know exactly what to expect. Many are saying they didn’t enjoy the movie, which is fine; everyone has their own opinion on things.

But I think if you didn’t enjoy it, you may have missed the Branagh charm in the film. Branagh is maybe our most dramatic actor alive. Everything he does is a huge theatrical production, and that most definitely includes Murder on the Orient Express.

I don’t want to spoil anything (even though the book did come out in the ’20s) but I will say this: it is definitely worth your time. But like I said, you have to go in knowing what Branagh is about. If you have the time to dedicate to it, I highly suggest watching his Hamlet, where he bleached out his hair and made his facial hair darker and gave us everything we ever wanted and more.

It’ll help set up how this movie will feel. Mainly because it is so dramatic at times, you just have to say “oh Kenneth,” and continue on in your viewing. I will say this, I thought I hated it for a good chunk of the beginning only to discover that that was me falling in love with this insanity of a movie.

Is it the best film of the year? Not by far. But it is fun, you’ll have a good time, and it has facial hair that would make even Ron Swanson jealous.
