7. The Nightmare Before Christmas
This is Halloween. And nothing says Halloween like Tim Burton, especially Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The Nightmare Before Christmas, of course, is about Pumpkin King and Halloween Town resident Jack Skellington. Jack’s sick of the same out spooks and scares of Halloween.
But, what’s this? Jack’s life changes when he accidentally comes across a portal to Christmas Town. And he’s completely blown away.
Awed by Christmas, Jack decides that Halloween Town will take over the holiday. Of course, things take a disastrous turn. The other residents of Halloween Town don’t really get Christmas. Plus, not only does Jack make a complete mess of things with his terrifying Christmas presents, but Oogie Boogie also gets a hold of both Santa Claus and Sally.
Spoilers: It all works out in the end. Jack realizes he loved Halloween all along, he kills Oogie Boogie, Santa goes home and gives Halloween Town snow, and Jack and Sally fall in love.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is a classic. It’s one of Burton’s best films. Most of Burton’s films have a feel that just work for Halloween. But, come on, The Nightmare Before Christmas is all about Halloween. It’s something special and just a great idea for a Halloween costume.
But what makes this even more perfect for a dog Halloween costume? There’s even a dog in the movie! Jack owns an adorable ghost dog named Zero, who has a cute glowing jack-o’-lantern nose.
It’s the ultimate duo costume. Owners dress up as the Pumpkin King Jack Skellington for Halloween while their dogs dress up as Zero. You can even throw Sally into the mix. It’s absolutely adorable.
