Rachel Platten Reveals She’s Gotten Strength From Taylor Swift
Rachel Platten spoke of Taylor Swift during a recent interview with Glamour magazine.
After performing her song “Fight Song” during Swift’s 1989 tour, which was one of the first moments of Platten’s musical journey, Platten was extremely active with her fans and followers on Twitter in regard to her support of Swift amid her assault trial against former Denver DJ David Mueller.
Speaking to Glamour magazine about Swift’s decision to take legal action against Mueller after he reportedly groped her during a meet and greet event years ago, Platten applauded her fellow musician for being brave and using her voice to call attention to something that can be quite terrifying.
Taylor Swift wasn’t afraid of backlash
“To say that you have been touched or assaulted, it brings shame to you,” Platten said.
As the singer explained, victims can often feel that abuse brought to them is their fault and regardless of someone’s fame or success, those feelings often don’t go away.
Rachel Platten was inspired by Taylor Swift’s decision to speak up
According to Platten, it was really inspiring to see that Swift had spoken out about what had happened between her and her accuser. As fans will recall, Swift ultimately won her case against Mueller and said that the $1 million she was awarded would be ultimately donated to charity.
Platten also said that she’s seen several good examples set over the past several days by the women who have accused movie producer Harvey Weinstein of treating them inappropriately.
