Why are there no vampires in the Harry Potter series?
Of all the magical creatures present in the Harry Potter series, it is surprising that vampires didn’t play a more important role.
Look we live in a world where we’re obsessed with vampires. So why are there no real vampires in the series? Is it because they couldn’t really do anything during the day except sleep? Whatever it is, it should change.
Mainly because of all the lore that the series does have. Now I’m not saying that there weren’t vampires, they talked about them existing. But there never was one in the actual story. Why?
Werewolves played an integral part of the story (with Lupin and Greyback) but not vampires? It is just very strange to me. As someone who never really liked vampires, I was grateful. They scared me as a child and I wouldn’t have loved them in my favorite book series.
But as an adult, I recognize how strange it is that we have so many magical creatures but vampires don’t seem to make an appearance. Well, let me be clear, they did exist in the series and they did have a few characters in the books.
But not like Lupin and Greyback. They were not part of the overall story other than as a ‘oh look there’s a vampire’ kind of character and that is what is strange to me. What if there had been a vampire on Voldemort’s side? How cool would that be?
Greyback and a vampire fighting side by side? While I don’t like Voldemort or the Death Eaters, it’d be fun to see these two interacting.
Next: Ernie Macmillan may seem like the worst but he has some redeeming qualities
Maybe we’ll get some more vampires in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and maybe we’ll find out soon enough. It’d be pretty fun!
