What if Eddie Redmayne had played Fred and George Weasley?
Now it’d be a real Armie Hammer situation but what if Eddie Redmayne had played Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter series?
Eddie Redmayne has said time and time again that he wanted to be in the Harry Potter series. He thought he would have been perfect for the Weasley’s and when it didn’t happen, he eventually was cast as Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
But what is Eddie had been cast in the series beforehand? To me, I think it would have been fun if they did a real Armie Hammer in The Social Network with him. Granted, it would be way to expensive since they’d have to CGI one of him always but still.
While Oliver and James Phelps are perfect as Fred and George, the role would be cool played by one actor. So what if that had been Eddie Redmayne? Or maybe he should have just been Percy or even Charlie if they had included the other Weasley son in the series.
Either way, I am just glad that we have Eddie in the franchise at all. He clearly belonged in J.K Rowling’s world from the start and now that he is in it, it feels right. So yes, it would have been nice if he’d been a Weasley. He is a ginger after all, but just having him be a wizard is enough.
And, who knows, maybe we’ll find out that Newt is a long lost relative of the Weasleys. Then everything will come full circle.
Next: Hufflepuffs get a bad rap but really, they’re some of the best!
