Selena Gomez was noticeably from the spotlight over the summer and earlier this week, she revealed why.

In an Instagram post to her fans and followers on September 13, Gomez said that while she would have loved to have spent the summer months promoting her new singles, including “Bad Liar” and “Fetish,” she was unable to do so after facing a terrifying health crisis.

Less than one year after revealing that her Lupus diagnosis had led her to experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, and panic attacks, Gomez told fans that she discovered she was in need of a kidney transplant.

Selena Gomez plans to share her health crisis with fans

According to her Instagram post, the “Same Old Love” singer has plans to share her journey with her fans and followers but she didn’t reveal when she would do so. Instead, she told fans she was thankful to her family and her doctors who remained by her side throughout her transplant.

Selena Gomez’s friend, actress Francia Raisa, donated her kidney

Luckily for Gomez’s health, she didn’t have to wait on a list to receive a kidney from a donor. As she told fans, it was actually her longtime friend, Francia Raisa, who gave her the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating one of her kidneys.

“I love you so much sis,” Gomez wrote to Raisa.

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift haven’t been seen together lately

While Gomez and Swift have been focused on their own lives in recent months, they will likely be seeing much more of one another in the coming months as Gomez recently relocated to NYC to film the upcoming Woody Allen movie.
