During the Toronto Film Festival, this weekend, Taylor Swift’s collaborator and music video producer defends the singer when it comes to her being silent about politics.

Variety sat down with “Look What You Made Me Do” music video producer and director Joseph Kahn and asked a candid question about his friend and co-worker Taylor Swift. They had asked Kahn why Swift has been so silent about politics and the 2016 election. While it can be an annoying question that is asked, Kahn handled it with grace and proved to others once again that the singer-songwriter is an outstanding human being.

“When you think about what she does, she doesn’t talk about anything outside of the interpersonal issues she writes about in her songs. She thinks about the message, and I’m fine with that,” he tells Variety. “She doesn’t discuss politics. She goes on stage and creates a massive concert about interpersonal stuff and digs deep into the message of the songs.”

“I think it’s valid. I don’t think every entertainer has to tell you exactly how they voted. But I think you can imply by who they are and by who they hang out with but I can’t speak for her,” he continues. “She’s not racist and she’s not evil. She’s a good human being”.

Well, there you have it. Thank you, Kahn, for clearing the air once again for all those that love to hate. We may as well just start calling you the Swiftie mascot. We applaud you.

Swift’s sixth studio album reputation hits stores on November 10.
