Following years of tension, a source claims Swift and Perry may face what organizers are referring to as a “logistical nightmare” when Perry hosts the upcoming event and Swift reportedly debuts a new single.

Will Taylor Swift debut new music at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards?

At this point, Swift’s new music doesn’t have a specific release date but according to the report, Swift feels that it would be a great idea to surprise her many fans with the world debut of a new song at the upcoming event.

“Taylor’s getting ready to return with new music and believes the VMAs could be the perfect place to do it,” an insider told the outlet. “Discussions are currently ongoing with organizers who, despite knowing it will be a huge ratings winner, are calling it a logistical nightmare.”

Katy Perry may not want her arch-nemesis around

“With Katy hosting they know it will be virtually impossible to keep them apart. But while VMA bosses are secretly thrilled at the prospect of the arch-enemies being on stage together, Katy is rumoured to be fuming,” the source added.
