Florence Pugh takes on another Scottish great in Outlaw King

It seems as if Florence Pugh is taking on Scotland by storm. From Lady MacBeth to the wife of Robert the Bruce. That’s right, Outlaw King found its lead.

Did you see Florence Pugh take on Lady MacBeth? No? Well, you should. And while the movie itself isn’t set in Scotland (as the play is), it is clear that the title comes from the Scottish play. You’re probably wondering why I’m bringing any of this up in the first place right?

Well, it seems as if the Netflix movie Outlaw King has found its female lead. And that’s extremely exciting for me. Yes, exclusively for me. Now for those of you who don’t know, the story follows Robert the Bruce, the king who led Scotland in its first war for independence.

The reason I’m so excited about this movie, and you should be too, is because it reunites Hell or High Water director David Mackenzie with star Chris Pine. Again, maybe this is just weirdly specific to me and my tastes so I’m the only one who cares. But it just seems perfect.

It was going to be a reunion between Chris Pine and Ben Foster as well but now the role Ben was slotted to play seems to be going to Aaron Taylor-Johnson instead. Either way, I’m excited to see Scottish history come to life with my favorite actor taking the lead. It should be a great movie and really, who doesn’t enjoy a good tale of not getting your independence?
