Papa Legba – American Horror Story: Coven

Okay, so this might not be the most traditional choice for a list about hotties with supernatural powers, but hear me out. To start, Voodoo magic is super sexy. It’s eclectic, gritty, and can sometimes involve sweaty bodies, thumping drums, and a little otherworldly travel.

Papa Legba is the Gatekeeper to the Spirit World, and it is his responsibility to keep the scales of life and death in balance. He is also the god of travel, opportunity, and luck. He must be called upon before and after a Voodoo ceremony to guide the spirits summoned in a ritual back to the spirit world. Hot, right?

In American Horror Story: Coven, he traded Marie Leveau immortality for her soul, and he become his servant. Anybody who had dominion over Angela Basset and her arms is immediately impressive to me.

As a loa, Papa Legba is a Voodoo Deity that must constantly acquire new souls. In fact, he forces Marie Leveau to sacrifice a human every year, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a fair individual. I know the murder and human sacrifice might indicate otherwise, but even though he takes souls and such, he’s always transparent and forthcoming with the rules and conditions of his negotiations. I mean… he’s not really hiding what it is he wants or does.  He’s pretty upfront about the cost of your wish, so, you can’t really complain when things go a little awry.

But even if they do, he’s got so much style and charm, you can’t really be mad at him. With that top hat, jaunty overcoat, and snazzy cane, he’s the most dapper of all the supernatural beings on this list.
