Taylor Swift’s longtime friend Ed Sheeran wasn’t quick to defend her against Katy Perry’s alleged diss track, “Swish, Swish,” during a recent event.

While attending the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame induction gala days ago, Sheeran was asked about the track, which is rumored to be a response to Swift’s 2014 track, “Bad Blood,” and in response, he said that Swift doesn’t need anyone to come to her rescue.

“I don’t think she needs that at all,” he said during an interview with People magazine. “I don’t think feud songs are a hot thing – there’s always been beef songs. It’s mainly been like Carly Simon.”

Katy Perry offered an apology after the release of ‘Swish, Swish’

After releasing her alleged diss track, Perry attempted to change her tune about Swift when she spoke to Ariana Huffington about her “love” for her longtime nemesis.

“I love her, and I want the best for her,” Perry said, via Digital Spy. “And I think she’s a fantastic songwriter, and I think that, you know, if we – both her and I – can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go like, ‘Yeah, well we can do this.’

Katy Perry is hoping for a reconciliation with Taylor Swift

“Like, maybe I don’t agree with everything she does and she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but I just really truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion,” she explained.
