Taylor Swift shocked fans everywhere when she decided to release her music on Spotify on the same day that Katy Perry’s new album, Witness, was released. However, according to a new report, the release wasn’t a move aimed at her nemesis.
As the outlet revealed, Swift’s releases have fallen on the same day as other singers, including Britney Spears and Lady Gaga, so her joint release with Perry is nothing out of the ordinary for the “Wildest Dreams” songstress.
That said, Perry isn’t convinced that she wasn’t targeted by Swift.
Katy Perry thinks Taylor Swift is tying to get under her skin
“Katy believes 100% that Taylor made the streaming announcement the same day [June 9] Witness was released on purpose,” an insider revealed to Hollywood Life earlier this week, “And is just playing games to get under her skin.”
Was Taylor Swift’s Spotify release a blessing in disguise?
“The way that Katy sees things is that it’s a bit of a blessing in disguise,” the insider explained, “Because people are talking more about Katy’s album then might have in the first place. Any press is good press in Katy’s eyes.”
In addition, she feels that Swift’s reportedly rude move will ultimately result in some bad karma.
“Katy was upset for a minute, but then she saw the silver lining of it all,” the insider added. “She’s looking forward to the move to blow up in Taylor’s face.”
