Zayn Malik wasn’t forced to record a duet with Taylor Swift, despite what a recent report proclaimed.

Days after Radar Online suggested the former One Direction singer preferred to record “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” as a solo artist, Gossip Cop has shot down the rumor.

“Zayn loved the song and wanted it for himself; he was desperate to record it as a solo track and thought it would be a real career boost,” the source explained to Radar Online earlier this week.

“It has all of the high notes he can reach and was perfect, but movie bosses said it had to be a collaboration and wanted him to work with Taylor,” the source added.

Taylor Swift was a co-writer of ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’

In response to the rumor, however, Gossip Cop has confirmed the report as false, noting that Swift was one of the writers on the track. The outlet also called Radar Online’s account of Malik’s alleged desire to record the song solo as “misleading” and “inaccurate.”

‘I Don’t’ Wanna Live Forever’ was a major hit

Gossip Cop also called out Radar Online’s suggestion that the song wasn’t a hit, revealing that the track reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 list and did the same on the Mainstream Top 40 and Adult Top 40.

In addition to the arguments above, it seems highly unlikely that Malik would be against working with Swift, one of the most popular singers on the globe, and one of his girlfriend Gigi Hadid’s best friends.
