The Leftovers season 3, episode 4 “G’Day Melbourne” live stream: Watch online

After spending some time with the senior Kevin Garvey, The Leftovers returns to its regularly scheduled programming. Here’s how to watch tonight’s episode online.

If most shows aired an episode like “Crazy Whitefella Thinking” during their final seasons, it would have been baffling. Why spend one of your precious last hours following a character with minimal connection to the overarching story? But this is The Leftovers we’re talking about, and “Crazy Whitefella Thinking” was spellbinding television.

What surprises await this week?

Episode 4 of The Leftovers’ final season will follow Kevin (Junior) and Nora as they journey to the far side of the globe.

Read the synopsis for “G’Day Melbourne” below, courtesy of HBO’s official press release:

"Kevin (Justin Theroux) and Nora (Carrie Coon) travel to Australia, where she continues to track down the masterminds of an elaborate con, while he catches a glimpse of an unexpected face from the past, forcing him to confront the traumatic events of three years earlier."

At the end of “Don’t Be Ridiculous”, Nora agreed to meet the scientists who claim to have built a machine that can transport people to wherever the Departed went. But does she really want to participate in the experiment? Or is she still intent on discrediting it? The above synopsis, which alludes to “an elaborate con”, suggests it’s the latter. So, far from inspiring doubt, the trip to St. Louis only motivated Nora to cling tighter to her rational mindset.

Kevin, meanwhile, asked to accompany her to Australia because… why? Is this another attempt at rekindling the spark in their relationship after she laughed at his proposal to have a baby? Is he just desperate for a change in scenery? Does he think he will find something meaningful Down Under – an answer, a purpose?

As for the “unexpected face” that he sees, our immediate assumption is Patty. Damon Lindelof has been cagey about whether actress Ann Dowd will appear this season, which makes us believe she will. But if Patty is still present, that would mean everything Kevin went through in season 2, from the suicide attempt to the interlude in purgatory, was for naught. Even for The Leftovers, that would be cynical. Anyway, “International Assassin” was such a perfect conclusion to Patty’s arc, and we don’t want the show to undermine it.

Regardless, we will find out by the end of tonight. Here’s the live stream information for The Leftovers this week:
