For years, we’ve waited for the Mean Girls musical to become a reality and now the wait is almost over…if you’re in Washington D.C.

We’ve all patiently waited for the news that they would be making Mean Girls into a musical. For years we’ve been teased by the prospect and it seems as if everything is finally coming together. The movie, created by Tina Fey and company, was a staple for many in the early 2000s. And even today the movie still holds up.

So why not make it into a musical to let us relive the magic that is Mean Girls? Well, lucky for us, that’s exactly what they are doing! According to Paste Magazine, the musical will have premiere dates in Washington D.C before it gets a run on Broadway.

"The musical stage adaptation of the hit high-school flick Mean Girls will be coming to the National Theater in Washington, D.C. from Oct. 31 through Dec. 3 before a planned run on Broadway."

Paste also reports that Jeff Richmond, Fey’s husband, will compose the score with Nell Benjamin. Benjamin was the composer of Legally Blonde. And it looks like Lorne Michaels, who produced the film, will also be producing the Broadway show as well. He joins producer Stuart Thompson on the project.

After all this time of waiting and hoping that this musical would become a reality, it is truly something special to see. Fans have been tracking information on this and trying to make it come true and now, we only have to wait until the end of the year until we can finally see Regina, Karen, Cady, and Gretchen come to life once more.
