Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming to Broadway and we need to discuss who can play Harry Potter. Should he be American?
With Harry Potter and the Cursed Child coming to Broadway, there are talks about accents and casting and all sorts of things that go along with a theater production. So who do we want to be the boy who lived on stage?
Well, it’s a lot harder to think about than you’d think it would be. For instance, there are those Broadway actors that I personally love. I think they’re amazing and that they’d be great choices for one of my favorite characters.
So here is my plea for why I think we can make Aaron Tveit the perfect Harry Potter. Granted, he’s beautiful and blonde but hear me out: he’s beyond talented. The thing about the show is that you have to have an amazing Harry Potter or it is going to fall flat.
Now this whole idea is only if Jamie Parker decides to not transfer with the show. If the entire original West End cast wants to come to New York City, then that’s fine. We’ll take that. But if we’re getting an entirely new cast, we want it to be the perfect cast.
As Americans, we have heard so much about the London production and have never gotten the chance to see it. So it’d be great to actually have a cast we love. And while Aaron Tveit is a choice mainly because of his name, there are Broadway actors like Drew Gehling who would also make an amazing Harry. At least, he has the looks to be the perfect Potter.

We’ll just have to wait and see but either way, we’re excited about it.
