These 11 undeserved Grammy winners prove that awards sometimes get it wrong. Really, really wrong.

The Grammy Awards are this Sunday and we’re getting ready to see everything the Grammys are known for: the wild outfits, unique performances and inexplicable wins.

The Grammys may be the biggest and most coveted award in the music industry, but much like the Oscars, sometimes they get it completely wrong. The Grammys (voted by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) make a lot of mistakes with their awards.

They can sometimes be late to a trend and miss awarding groundbreaking and revolutionary stuff, they can reward popularity instead of artistry, and they can sometimes give an artist a “make up” award: meaning you were supposed to get this for a masterpiece you released ten but we messed up, so now you get to win Album of the Year for something kind of mediocre and forgettable.

All of these issues with Grammy voters can lead to some very undeserving winners in all categories, from the prestigious three (Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year) to the nice genre categories, proving each branch has its own problems. Scroll through our list of the 11 most egregious Grammy winners, and who should have won that year’s award instead.
