Written in My Own’s Heart Blood
Written in My Own’s Heart Blood or MOBY as Diana Gabaldon calls it, is one of the strongest novels in the Outlander series since the first book. It’s almost a reward of sorts for sticking with the series through all of the ups and downs. Claire is still in mourning thinking Jamie has died. Thankfully that’s cleared up pretty quickly. The book series is at it’s best when they are working together. They even manage to meet huge historical figures George Washington and Benedict Arnold. Roger McKenzie does some time traveling on his own while trying to find his kidnaped son in 1739. Unexpectedly, he runs into his father-in-law’s family, Brian and Jenny Fraser. If that isn’t weird enough, he runs into his family members Dougal McKenzie, Geillis Duncan and even his father, Jeremiah Walter McKenzie. As the American Revolutionary War is winding down for the Frasers, they decide it’s time to head back to Fraser Ridge. It gave you everything from war to a family reunion we all wanted.
"“’I have loved others, and I do love many, Sassenach—but you alone hold all my heart, whole in your hands,” he said softly. “And you know that'” (Chapter 145, Kindle Loc 19739). “’Thy life’s journey lies along its own path, Ian,” she said, “and I cannot share thy journey—but I can walk beside thee. And I will'” (Chapter 57, Kindle Loc 8132). “Perhaps realizing that, as Mrs. Figg had said, a marriage is made not in ritual or in words but in the living of it” (Chapter 94, Kindle Loc 13211). “Advice? You’re too old to be given it and too young to take it” (Chapter 80, Kindle Loc 11064). “’I have loved ye since I saw you, Sassenach,” he said very quietly, holding my eyes with his own, bloodshot and lined with tiredness but very blue. “I will love ye forever. It doesna matter if ye sleep with the whole English army—well, no,” he corrected himself, “it would matter, but it wouldna stop me loving you'” (Chapter 24, Kindle Loc 3818). “That they can only be what they are because you and I are what we are” (Chapter 57, Kindle Loc 8200). “’If God makes man in His image, we all return the favor'” (Chapter 44, Kindle Loc 6532). “’Mmphm. Well, I suppose men can make all the laws they like,” he said, “but God made hope. The stars willna burn out.” He turned and, cupping my chin, kissed me gently. “And nor will we'” (Chapter 118, Kindle Loc 16761). “But what I do say is that there is nothing in this world or the next that can take ye from me—or me from you” (Chapter 24, Kindle Loc 3991). “I didn’t know what it was about red hair, but many years’ experience with Jamie, Brianna, and Jemmy had taught me that while most people became irritable when hungry, a redheaded person with an empty stomach was a walking bomb” (Chapter 54, Kindle Loc 7638)."
