This may sound weird, but 1989 came out in 2014. That means we were all “Shaking it Off” more than two years ago. It feels like I was secretly listening to “Blank Space” only yesterday. Of course, I know Taylor Swift is a controversial choice. But Taylor Swift has been known to make some great songs, okay? That’s all there is to it. Let’s all just put aside our personal feelings about the woman who often says problematic things, and just accept that someone else already said everything we were thinking.
I mean, we simply cannot ignore that fact she won Album of the Year with her second album, Fearless. Additionally, Fearless was the highest-selling album of the year. Her debut album came out in 2006, which means, Taylor Swift has been in the game for a decade.
Let that sink in.
While it may cause a stir to see her on the list, Taylor Swift was the first woman to win a Grammy for Album of the Year twice. So, cheers to that for breaking that particular glass barrier, Taylor Swift.
