Hogwarts’ brightest witches get glam for this unique Harry Potter Pin-Up Cosplay

Our new favorite cosplayer, Ginny Di, just gifted us a series of pin-up style cosplay featuring Hogwarts alumni Hermione, Luna and Ginny!

A little leg goes a long way in these alluring pin-up photographs produced by Ginny Di, an American cosplayer based in New Mexico. Potterheads all over the internet are obsessing over Ginny’s work which was inspired by Gil Elvgren’s iconic pin-up art.

Each of the girls are wearing their house robes with their with their furry companions or school accessories.

Ginny first shared her photography on Reddit, where they went viral. Many fans have asked her to share six more Harry Potter inspired photographs to complete a 12-month calendar. And we couldn’t be more excited about this idea!

Pin-up models are reminiscent of the late 19th century and early 20th century. They were a popular way for glamour models and actresses to promote themselves in risqué clothing but never explicit fashion. The photographs would often display the woman’s independence and flirtatious personality. Many of the photographs were erotic and appealed to men but would be considered safe for work.

“Pin-up” literally meant the drawings, paintings, or photography were “pinned-up” on the wall in an informal fashion. The images were printed on calendars, postcards, newspapers and in magazines for fans to cut them out and paste wherever they wanted. The idea quickly became a fixture of American pop-culture.

We can all agree that Hermione, Ginny and Luna are all smart, independent young witches who I’m confident can take on the Dark Lord without the help of Harry or Ron. Ginny Di has done a remarkable job of portraying each of the witches in a tasteful yet cheeky manner.
