Just you wait. Marvel’s America is ready to stun with another hip-hop inspired cover. This time featuring a Hamilton homage.
Marvel’s America series about Latina queer superhero America Chavez is already pretty groundbreaking. The series debuts in March and is the first time America Chavez will lead her own series. Who is America? Well, not to spoil anything but she has the ability to travel to alternate universes. And she’s already making waves before her debut! In fact, recently the series has featured some pretty cool hip-hop inspired upcoming covers that have drawn attention. Does this look familiar to you?
That’s right, this is the perfect post-Women’s March cover featuring a neat twist on Béyonce’s Lemonade music video. What a perfect cover to help represent where our country is politically. But the series isn’t stopping there. A new variant cover features America Chavez in place of Alexander Hamilton in a version of the iconic Hamilton poster. It’s also pretty freaking cool.
Looks just like Alexander, right? Okay, well the red and blue tints are a nice touch, along with the words “A 21st Century Hero” instead of “An American Musical”.
The series will be released monthly beginning in March and couldn’t come at a more controversial time in this great land known as America. To have the powerful image of a Latina woman on the cover while Donald Trump tries to enforce his campaign promises to build a wall between the United States and Mexico certainly sends a statement as just how fractured America is currently. And Hamilton, a story of that country’s revolution also maybe hits a little close to home.
