The 20s were at time for the flappers. They were the ladies who had a keen eye for fashion trends. Some actresses who really exemplified the sleek, classy and sassy looks were Louise Brooks, Josephine Baker, and Greta Garbo. The male actors of the 20s were large, staunch, handsome men ,like Rudolph Valentino. But the 20s also made way for Charlie Chaplin, whose little mustache, bowler hat and cane are just as recognizable today.

Some painters from that era include Salvador Dali, who led the way in surrealist art, and Georgia O’Keeffe, a pioneer in American modernism and impressionism.

There was also a rise in female businesswomen. Around this time, Coco Chanel‘s eye for fashion led to the famous perfume Chanel No. 5, and the rise of the ‘little black dress.’ And by the end of the era, entrepreneur Helena Rubenstein had created a superpower of salon chains around Europe and the U.S.

And of course, Walt Disney moved to Hollywood in 1923, where he first created iconic cartoon mouse Mickey, which would later blossom into the world of Disney we know today.
