Happy Caturday! Since we’re still at the beginning of awards season, let’s take a look at some of the best cat actors in the business.
In case you missed it, the Golden Globes took place a couple of weeks ago. Then, the People’s Choice Awards happened on Wednesday. I don’t know what happened or who won, but I’m sure it was great. This week, the Academy Awards nominations will be announced, with the ceremony taking place at the end of February.
So in light of all this, we’re going to do our own small A-Cat-demy Awards! With a little help from YouTube user, Pasdidée (via Sploid), who put together cat reenactments of some popular films, we’ve gathered several nominees:
Best Cactor in a Science-Fiction Film:
Best Cactor in a Horror Film:
Best Cactor in a Drama Film:
Best Cactor in an Animated Film or Musical:
Obviously, this is all just for fun. All these cats and kittens did remarkable jobs! I really love them all because they’re so dramatic. Honestly, the music really sells it here. And I really like the use of practical effects. For the record, my cat has no showmanship whatsoever.
In other news…
Today’s the first day after the inauguration. If you’re feeling a little glum, here’s three minutes of a cat marching band, courtesy of MitchiriNeko.
I was actually looking for something to help me segway into the Women’s March on Washington or talk about Pussyhats since that’s also happening today. But the above jolly marching band is so much better. They’re all so cute, especially when it gets to the twirling choreography halfway through. Then, if you watch closely, there are a couple of cats holding their instruments incorrectly and one even uses a broom instead of a guitar!
