Check out Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) in the trailer for an upcoming episode of Urban Myths, where he plays Hitler’s best friend.
Rupert Grint, known to Harry Potter fans the world over as the one and only Ronald Weasley, is busy of late. He’s starring in Snatch, a show on Crackle based on the Guy Ritchie movie of the same name, and will soon appear in an episode of Sky Arts’ comedy Urban Myths, playing Adolf Hitler’s best friend. Obviously.
Urban Myths tells possibly apocryphal stories about famous figures from history and pop culture, from Carey Grant to Michael Jackson to, well, Hitler. Check out the trailer for the new season of the show below. Grint shows up at 0:10 and again at 0:28. His episode is entitled “Hitler the Artist”:
That’s Iwan Rheon, the guy who played the sadistic Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones, as Hitler. Good casting.
The official episode description:
"A young 18-year-old Adolf Hitler pursues his passion for art, as he and his best friend, August, a talented musician, live in Vienna hoping to study at the revered Arts Academy. The only problem is that young Adolf is crap at art and is rejected, incurring a wrath that would have far-reaching consequences."
So it sounds like this episode will explore the idea that Hitler was driven to his dreams of world domination because he was rejected by the art world. It’s a touchy subject, but they’re definitely keeping things light.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Grint has appeared in something that takes an irreverent approach to history. In 2015, he had a role in Moonwalkers, about faking the moon landing. He also played guitarist Cheetah Chrome in CBGB, about the heyday of the legendary New York City music venue. Stick to what you like.
Urban Myths airs on Sky Arts.
