J.K Rowling finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ten years ago yesterday and we’re looking back on our favorite moments from the novel.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is hard for a lot of fans to read. It saw the death of many of our favorites in the Battle of Hogwarts and we had to watch Harry struggle to defeat Lord Voldemort. But today, we celebrate the end of our favorite series and January 11th marked the ten year anniversary of Rowling finishing a series that defined a generation.
From Sorcerer’s Stone onward, fans longed to sit down with these beloved books and see where they took their favorite characters. For some, their favorites didn’t even make it to the last novel, but it did bring back some familiar faces.
For me, my favorite part of the novel was when Harry turned the Resurrection Stone over as he walked to his ‘death’. Why? Because my favorite character got to come back and tell Harry that he would be with him every step of the way. (That character is Sirius Black and is so important.)
The novel held a lot of deaths that broke our hearts but also showed us why we loved the series. Good conquered evil and we have to remember that. Especially in these trying times that lie ahead for everyone.
Rowling gave us a series that led by example. Good will always conquer evil. And most of all, “happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
