Tegan and Sara Quin, identical twins who are quite frankly, taking over the music industry. One listen to their songs and it’s easy to hear why. Not only can these two heal a broken heart with their melodies, they’re active in the fight to a better, more progressive future, and fans are taking note.
The two have more in common than just looks, as twin lesbians, they’re involved with fighting for LGBT rights, and they’re wickedly passionate about it. Sara noting, “I choose to be a visible minority every day, I come out every day. I actively look for ways now to talk about who I am because I want to live as openly as I can, but I also want to inspire those for who living and being themselves is a tremendous effort, and takes a tremendous amount of courage.”
They even transformed their most recent tour into an effort to stand up for their community. They utilized their platform to meet with local activists, researchers, legislators, and nonprofits that all focus on LGBT issues. They want to be proactive about their support so they’re first collecting stories from all sides of the spectrum, but mainly, they want to fight against the incoming Trump administration. And with a platform like theirs, they have a the possibility to have a loud voice in the fight.
